Velalar College of Engineering and Technology is an autonomous institution, affiliated with Anna University, Tamil Nadu, and authorized by the All India Technical Education Council (AICTE). The college has been accredited to the ‘A’ degree by NAAC. It is a private college that offers co-educational programs to both sexes. 90 % of students earn placements from an on-campus interview with a college student. Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and several other IT companies are among the top hiring companies on the list. The only goal of VCET is to introduce students to world-class education and to provide them with a wide range of quality information. VCET ranked 140th for B.Tech, India today 2020.

VCET Admission
Each year, admissions to the Velalar College of Engineering and Technology are granted to students on the basis of the cut off marks declared by VCET Management. The application for the 2020 batch VCET Enrolment can be found online and students can apply for enrolment to the College website.
VCET also provides lateral entry applications for second-year students to register directly for the B.Tech / B.E course.

VCET Placement
VCET offers a placement and training cell that helps students develop their careers and enables them to be positioned in renowned and well-known multinational companies such as Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, and many other organizations. Training and selection cells also arrange guest lectures, workshops, and conferences by leading professors for the benefit of students. Campus placement preparation (HR, Academic, Group Discussions, Written Testing, Aptitude Test) is offered for all qualifying college candidates in the pre-final year. VCET Scholarship
The institute provides merit-based scholarships to all students from various backgrounds at the beginning of the semester. Students who are involved in athletics will also benefit from an athletics quota scholarship.
The institute gives merit scholarships to students on the basis of merit. In 2018-19, almost 400 students earned scholarships.
- All Fee Waiver Scheme: This is granted to students who scored more than 195 in the entrance exam. There are no fees charged for college, hostel, transportation, and exams.
- Tuition fee waiver scheme: This scheme is offered to students who scored between 190 and 194.75 in the entrance exam. The cap shall be up to INR 40,000 per year.
VCET Facilities
The Velalar College of Engineering and Technology offers a wide range of infrastructure facilities for students and faculty. Some of the facilities listed below are as follows:
- Hostel: a separate on-campus hostel for boys and girls with gym and cafeteria facilities.
- Digital Library: a selection of books in the library. The digital library offers access to unlock e-books and e-documents.
- Computer Café: a computer lab for software brains to innovate with new concepts and technology.
- Auditorium: an auditorium for large meetings and a conference hall for lectures and workshops for more than 1,000 students.
- Grievance Redressing Committee: here, members ensure that there are no discrimination conflicts between students on the basis of caste, faith, etc.
