Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology or MCET is a private, autonomous college that was established in 1998 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is approved with an “A++” grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The College also got permitted by using the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

As an autonomous Institution, it provides 27 courses across 2 streams. The programs include BE/BTech, ME/MTech, and MCA.

TNEA/ TANCET/ GATE are among the various entrance exams accepted by the institution. 

The College has access to all basic facilities such as powerhouse, Wi-Fi, labs, auditorium, cafeteria, visitor house, seminar hall, smart classrooms, distinct hostels for boys and girls, and transport facilities such as buses.

UG Courses

  • Admission to BE/ BTech is based on TNEA counseling. 
  • Candidates, who have finished Class 12 in the Science stream, can observe for UG programs

The undergraduate engineering programs are supplied in more than a few disciplines which include Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Information Technology.

PG Courses

  • ME/MTech admissions are based totally on TANCET scores. 
  • A candidate needs to have graduated in the relevant stream before making use of any of the PG programs. 

Admission for BE :

  • Candidates must obtain a valid score in the TNEA examination. 
  • Candidates must have passed in 10+2 or equivalent examinations with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together (40% for the reserved categories).

Admission for BTech :

  • Candidates must pass the 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together.

Admission for ME/MTech :

Application process :

Mentioned below are the steps to apply online in Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology : 

The candidates have to follow for TANCET and TNEA through the authentic portal only.

For TANCET :

  • For TANCET applications, the candidates need to register with a valid electronic mail ID, password, and other required credentials.
  • Fill the mandatory important points and upload the scanned copies of the passport dimension photograph and signature.
  • Proceed to pay the Application fee. The fee varies with each category, concessions are provided for the candidates belonging to reserved categories. 
  • The utility charge can be paid via Debit/ Credit cards or Net Banking.

For TNEA :

  • For TNEA application forms, the candidates need to click on the “register” tab on the domestic web page of the website.
  • After the profitable completion of the registration process, the candidates have to fill the personal and educational qualification details.

  • Transfer certificate issued by the school
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Nativity certificate
  • Relevant certificates for the children of Ex-servicemen/ freedom fighters.

For offline mode of application, candidates can take the print out of the form, fill it accordingly and send it to the official address.

MCET Cut-off 2024 :

Candidates are given admission to various UG & PG courses offered at the MCET based on the cut-offs of the respective entrance tests required for qualification. 

Cut-offs are released professionally by the college authority category-wise. 

The reservation criteria issued by the Government of India and the state are also kept in mind. Other factors include :

  • The total number of applicants applying
  • The total seats available
  • The previous year’s TNEA or TANCET cutoffs.

The candidates that meet the criteria are only preferred for admission.

Admissions for most of the programs is done based on merit, but for courses, namely :

  • B.Tech, and B.Arch, applicants are selected based on the cut-offs of TNEA
  • ME/MTech and MCA admissions are based on TANCET cut-offs. 
  • For MTech, cut-off scores in the GATE entrance test is preferred. 

Similarly, candidates applying to any other course must qualify for the cut-off to be eligible to get admission.
