JNNCE is popularly known as Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering and is located in the Shimoga city of Karnataka. Established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society, a pioneer society in the Malnad region founded by freedom fighters of high repute, this private institute offers various courses belonging to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

The College is affiliated with and approved by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of Visvesvaraya Technical University, Belgaum.

It is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Government of Karnataka.

JNN College of Engineering offers programs like B.E. / B.Tech, MBA/PGDM which include around 16 courses across 3 streams.

The college campus is built over an area of more than 40 acres with all facilities to suit the needs of around 2,500 students and 300 workers.

For admission to JNN College of Engineering, candidates must apply to the institute through offline or online media.

Admission into Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering is done through the accepted exams that include COMEDK UGET, KCET, etc. Admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET)/ Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental of Karnataka (COMEDK).

JNNCE is offering a B.E. Degree course in seven subjects, and an M.Tech course for applicants in seven specializations, MCA, and MBA programs.

Common eligibility for admission in JNNCE :

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with English (Languages) and a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer(40 per cent for candidates in categories SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B).
  • Candidates appearing in the exams can also apply on a provisional basis.
  • Students who have passed from Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) are also not eligible.

Admission for BE :

  • 45% of the seats under the Government Quota are filled through KCET
  • 30 % of the total seats are covered by COMEDK-UGET performed by COMEDK…
  • 25% of seats are allotted by the college Management under the Management Quota based on the candidate’s merit in the qualifying examination and test.
  • 5% of extra seats on the total intake are filled under the Supernumerary Quota.

Eligibility for B.E.

  • Candidates seeking admission to the B.E. course need to secure a valid score in the following entrance exams: KCET/ COMEDK-UGET.
  • 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC reserved category).

Admission for M.Tech :

80% of the overall seats are covered by the government quota and 20% by the management quota.

Both forms of seats are filled based on the merit of the candidate in the KEA-PGCET or by the GATE score of the applicant.

  • Candidates who have an E./ B.Tech Degree from any AICTE-approved University are considered eligible to get admission to the M.Tech course.
  • Admission into M. Tech is given based on the candidate’s merit in K-PGCET or their valid GATE

Admission for MBA/MCA :

  • Candidates can also be admitted to the MCA Lateral Entry course conducted by Karnataka-PGCET in July.
  • KMAT is a state-level entry test conducted annually in July by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA).
  • In July, KEA performs PGCET at the state level and the test is 100 marks, and the examination candidates are admitted to the 1st year of the MBA program upon qualification.

Eligibility for MCA & MBA courses :

  • Applicants must have completed Graduation with a minimum of 50% aggregate to be eligible to apply for admission in MCA and MBA courses.
  • For admission into MCA and MBA, candidates have to secure a valid score in the following entrance exams K-PGCET/ CAT/ MAT/ REVA CET (Management).

JNN College of Engineering  Placements :

JNNCE consists of a well-driven and quite active placement cell. Here students are prepared and trained for interviews, and to face difficult situations. A majority of around 70% of the students get placed in college every year. As said by some, it is the best college if your focus is on a job.

The highest salary package offered was about ₹12 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered was ₹2.25 LPA.

The institution mainly offers five of these scholarships:

 Vidyasiri

Under this scholarship, the candidates belonging to the BCM/OBC category with parents’ annual income below ₹1 lakh and Cat-1 candidates with annual income below ₹2.5 lakhs, are given concessions on their fees during admission.

 SC / ST Lower Income:

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category with an income limit below Rs. 2.5 lacs (CET/ Comed-K / Management students can apply) are given concessions on their fees.

 SC/ST Higher Income:

Candidates belonging to SC /ST with an income limit between Rs.2.5lacs to Rs.10 lacs (CET/ Comed-K can apply) are given scholarships accordingly.

 Minority Scholarship :

It is for Muslim/ Sikh / Jain / Christian candidates.

 Central Sector Scheme:

OBC Students can apply whose family’s income limit is below Rs.6 lacs. CET/ Comed-K / Management students/ Students who have scored 80% and above in PUC can apply for the same.

  • NSS is a unit that conducts various activities such as seminars on topics like “personality development, AIDS, Awareness of Drugs, Blood donation” etc.
  • NSS unit also conducts programs on planting trees, blood donation camps, adoption of villages, etc.

  • JNNCE Library consists of a collection of more than 1,00,000 volumes and 25,000 single titles covering all branches. The library is divided into sections based on whether students want to read, research, or lend books.

JNN College of Engineering  Cut-off 2024 :

Candidates are given admission to various courses in JNN College of Engineering based on the cut-offs of the respective entrance tests required for qualification.

Cut-offs are released professionally by the college authority category-wise.

The candidates that meet the criteria are only preferred for admission.

  • Candidates seeking admission to UG courses must adhere to the COMEDK UGET/ JEE Main/ JEE Advanced/ KCET cut-offs released by the college authority.
