TAMIL NADU VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY

The seed for the establishment and growth of TANUVAS was sown as early as 1876 when the Madras Veterinary College was started as an Agricultural School in Chennai to supply diploma and certificate course within the field of veterinary and animal sciences. The institute attained the status of a university within the year 1903 (01.10.1903), when it started working at Dobbin Hall, Chennai, and admitted 20 students for a three-year diploma course called GMVC (Graduate of Madras Veterinary College).

Based on the advice of the Royal Commission on Agriculture, the school was upgraded to impart a degree in veterinary science.

TANUVAS Admission Process

At present, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs within the field of Veterinary Science & farming, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, Diary Technology, Bioinformatics, and Biotechnology. It also offers PG Diploma courses in both full-time also as distance learning modes.

Candidates applying for any of the courses are required to attain a minimum of 60% marks in their last qualifying exam.

A resident of Tamil Nadu state is merely eligible to use.

Candidates should have attained the 17 years aged on New Year’s Eve.

A pass in school 12th with 60% aggregate marks is a prerequisite for applying for B.Tech. and B.V.Sc. & AH.

The selection for B.Tech. and B.V.Sc. is predicated on merit in qualifying exam and counseling then.

A Bachelor’s degree within the relevant stream is desired for PG courses.

The process of selection of candidates is strictly on the idea of merit for UG courses and entrance test for PG and Ph.D. courses.

The final allotment of seats is going to be done at the time of counseling.

TANUVAS Admission Process 2020: Fast Facts

The application forms for admission are generally released in May every year. The admission process for all the courses offered by TANUVAS is mentioned below:

  • TANUVAS admission to UG programs is merit-based
  • For PG and Ph.D. programs, the University conducts an entrance exam to shortlist candidates for selection
  • The final allotment of seats is done at the time of counseling.

TANUVAS PG Admission 2020: MBA, M.V.Sc, M.Tech, M.Sc & Ph.D 

TANUVAS offers admission to M.Tech, M.Sc, M.V.Sc, and Ph.D. programs.  M.V.Sc. is offered with 22 specializations with a duration of 2 years each, M.Tech. is offered with only one specialization, M.Sc. in 2 disciplines, and Ph.D. is offered in 20 disciplines. The minimum eligibility for any of the master’s programs is a relevant Bachelor’s degree with minimum required marks. The selection will be done on the basis of an entrance test followed by counseling. During the counseling, applicants are required to produce their original educational documents for verification purposes.

In a rapidly changing environment, a special cell – the University Students Counseling and Placement Cell (USCPC) has been strengthened to cater to the needs of university students from the faculties of Veterinary, Food Technology, Dairy Technology and Poultry Technology for their placements in various institutions/organizations reputed nationally and internationally.

Though the concept does not appear to be new it is poised for unique development as career development is now an additional priority of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and job placement is how our University has started to measure success for both its students and itself.
