About College:

When the Paris Foreign Mission Fathers opened St. Joseph’s European High School in Bangalore in 1858, the JOSEPHITE tradition had its start. St. Joseph’s College was founded in 1884. More than 10,000 students are currently enrolled in its independent colleges, St. Joseph’s University, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, St. Joseph’s Evening College, St. Joseph’s College of Law, and St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, formerly known as St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration, for undergraduate and graduate courses in the arts, sciences, commerce, computer, law, and management disciplines.

Since 1968, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management has offered one-year evening management courses. The Executives found the Courses to be of great assistance, and the Corporates were pleased with the College’s Diploma award. AICTE, New Delhi, granted the College clearance in 1996 for a two-year full-time PGDM program. With proper AICTE clearance, the Institute’s name was changed to St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) in October 2016. With the AICTE’s consent, the College was also moved to an autonomous campus at Webb’s Ground, M.G. Road, Bangalore, in the middle of the city. The Institute takes pleasure in having students with various educational backgrounds and work experience.

A 2-year full-time program is the flagship program of the Institute and is equivalent to an MBA recognized by AICTE. Students are meant to specialize in two out of four specializations.

The Ph.D. program is affiliated with the University of Mysore, and the Institute has a Research center dedicated to the course. The SJIM Research Institute offers the ideal setting for candidates to accomplish their focused research goals. The Ph.D. program envisions placing more of an emphasis on management academic research. The researcher must possess a good level of scholarship and investigation abilities. The Research Centre will offer the appropriate educational support system and guidance while considering future management requirements for these abilities to blossom and provide valuable solutions and information. Scholars joining the Research Center are expected to do the highest caliber scholarly work.

Admission Criteria:

Admission at SJIM for PGDM is entrance-based, and scores of tests like CAT, MAR, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, and ATMA are accepted in the Institute. Applicants will be chosen based on how well they performed in the entrance exam, after which the selected candidates will write an essay and have an interview.

The University of Mysore admission guidelines on the university’s website regulate Ph.D. admissions at SJIM Research Centre. A Ph.D. oversees the admission program—committee, which the Director appoints. SJIM imposes extra research output in addition to the academic criteria outlined by the University of Mysore. At SJIM, students can enroll in their Ph.D. program either full- or part-time.

Eligibility:

  • For PGDM, candidates must have at least 60% marks in Graduation from any discipline.
  • While for Ph.D., According to current University of Mysore regulations, an applicant must hold a Master’s degree or any other degree or diploma with a minimum of 55% of the total possible points (CGPA) or an equivalent grade. Candidates from SC/ST and OBC backgrounds are relaxed to 50%.
  • The applicant must also attend the University of Mysore’s entrance exam. Candidates that receive at least 55 out of 100 (or 50 out of 100 for OBC, PWD, and Transgender applicants, or 45 out of 100 for SC/ST candidates) in the exam will be deemed qualified and may apply for admission to the Ph.D. program.
  • Candidates with qualified JRF fellowships through UGC/ CSIR-NET/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ ICAR Examinations/ SLET (KSET)/ GATE Examination are exempted from the entrance test.

Fee Structure:

  • The total tuition fee for the PGDM course at SJIM is around 8.4L. For Ph.D., students in Full-time programs need to pay Rs. Fifty thousand per year, and for the Part-time program, the fee is Rs. 1,00,000 per year.
  • A Stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month is given to students enrolled in a Full-time program for the first three years.

With more than 18,300 books in the library, the College has also purchased subscriptions to several well-known online databases and tools, including EBSCO, Emerald, PROWESS, CRISIL Research, Capitaline, E-Books, and J-Gate, to aid students and faculty member’s research projects.

Students can utilize a networking-equipped computer lab. Moreover, a broadband internet connection is always accessible. Also, the College offers Wi-Fi so that students may access its servers from anywhere on campus.

The main campus is only a five-minute walk from the SJIM dormitory, located in the city’s center. SJIM Hostel’s food is superior to those of other hostels. Also, several amenities are provided, including a parking lot, Wi-Fi, and a basketball court. The environment in SJIM Hostel is quite lovely and serene. Single rooms, double rooms, and double rooms with an attached bathroom are the three different room kinds.
