VIT(Vellore Institute of Technology)

Vellore Institute of Technology, (Vellore&chennai) is an institute of eminence and a deemed university, situated in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. It was established by G. Viswanathan as Vellore Engineering College in 1984. The private institute offers 32 postgraduate, 43 undergraduate, two research, and four integrated programs. It consists of 16 schools and has three other campuses in Chennai, Amaravati, and Bhopal. Over the years, the institution has made its place amongst the country’s leading engineering colleges.

The institute offers BTech, MTech, BArch, MArch, BDes, MDes, BA, BSc, MA, MSc, Ph.D., etc. at UG, PG, and doctorate level. It offers these courses in streams including Engineering, IT, Science, Arts & Humanities, Management, Commerce, Mass Communication, Hospitality, and Design.

It has Four Campuses located in various cities such as Vellore, Chennai, AP, and Bhopal. It is located in the town of Vellore, Tamil Nadu state. VIT  Accreditations:-

It is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Government of India, with Grade ‘A’. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Industry Consortium of India, awarded VIT as ‘Excellence in faculty for the year 2017’ and ‘The University of the Year 2016’ in India.

Ranking:-

World’s topmost ranking bodies such as QS World and Times World ranked VIT Vellore among the top 1000 engineering institutes of the world for the year 2020 and 2019 respectively.

Courses:-

Latest admission update of 2020:-

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has canceled the VITEEE 2020 due to the prevailing COVID-19 conditions. The admission of students will be based on 10+2/Pre-University marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology. Also, students who will have valid JEE Main scores will be given weightage.

VITEEE 2024 Eligibility Criteria:-

Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident/Non-Resident Indian National/PIO Holder.

Age Limit:-

Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible to apply for VITEEE 2020. The date of birth as recorded in the High School Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counseling, failing which, they will be disqualified.

Qualifying Examination:-

  1. Candidates appearing for the VITEEE 2020 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2020, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:
  2. The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi
  • Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University
  1. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
  2. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level
  3. As per VIT Norms, Regular ‘NIOS’ board candidates are also eligible for VITEEE. They should produce the Migration Cum Transfer Certificate at the time of joining
  • Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full Time and Formal Education are alone eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria in the Qualifying Examination:-

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE in 2020 should have secured minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate)

The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate) put together should be 50% for the following categories:

(a) Candidates belonging to SC/ST Community

(b)Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

CERTIFICATE TO PROVE NATIVITY should be produced at the time of counseling, failing which they will not be considered for admission.

In case, the mark statement is not produced by the candidates at the time of admission, the decision of the Management regarding his/her eligibility and admission to the program shall be final.

Subject Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the qualifying examination are eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree programs

Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the qualifying examination are eligible only for B.Tech. Bio-stream Degree programs as below, but after joining, registering for Mathematics as a bridge course is mandatory BTech Bio-engineering, Biotechnology, CSE with specialization in Bioinformatics, ECE with specialization in Biomedical Engineering programs

Even though the admission is done as per the VITEEE ranking, the candidate has to fulfill the eligibility norms mentioned.
