What is the NICC Entrance Exam 2024?

The NICC entrance examination is carried out by the National Institute of Creative Communication with the goal of providing admission to candidates in integrated design courses provided by the university at UG and PG levels. It must be noted, however, that NICC accepts NID Entry Exam scores. Therefore, it is not mandatory for all candidates who have cleared NID DAT Prelims or Mains to appear for the NICC Entrance Test. All they need to do is submit reports of the NID Entrance Test, the official website tells.

The NICC entrance exam consists of three sections – the NICC Aptitude Examination, Interview and Portfolio Assessment. NICC admissions are made on the basis of the candidate’s results in all three screening processes.

NICC Entrance Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying to NICC Entrance Exam 2024 candidates please go through the eligibility criteria given below.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Course

All candidates who have passed Class XII or equivalent from either stream are eligible to apply for the NICC entrance examination 2020 for admission to integrated UG design programs.

Eligibility Criteria for PG courses

The eligibility requirements for the NICC entrance exam are different for different postgraduate combination design courses offered at the National Institute of Creative Communication (NICC). The NICC entrance exam eligibility requirements for admission to PG design courses are given below.

  1. International Postgraduate Degree in Interaction Design + MBA Information Systems

All candidates holding a BTech or equivalent degree in Visual Communication / Design / Mass Communication meet the NICC entrance exam 2020 eligibility requirements for admission to the Interaction Design + MBA Information Management course.

  1. International Postgraduate Degree in Product Design + MBA Project / Technology Management

All applicants with a degree in engineering/architecture / art/design with a basic understanding of three-dimensional forms and drawing skills meet the NICC eligibility requirements for the entrance exam.

  1. International Postgraduate Degree in Interior Design for Retail + MBA Retail Management

All candidates who have completed their degree in Interior Design / Architecture / Art / Design with knowledgeable drawing skills for three-dimensional shapes and spaces are eligible to apply for the NICC 2020 entrance exam.

  1. International Postgraduate Degree in Communication Design + MA Mass Communication

All candidates holding a degree in either stream meet the NICC 2020 eligibility requirements for the Communication Design + MA Mass Communication Admissions Course.

NICC Entrance Exam 2024 Admission Procedure

Candidates will take the steps they need to follow when they appear for the NICC 2020 entrance exam below:

  • Step 1: Fill out the NICC Entrance Exam Application Form

For NICC admissions, candidates must first fill out the NICC entrance exam application form in offline mode. Candidates can download the NICC entrance exam 2020 application form from the College’s official website, print it out, and start filling it out in offline mode.

Candidates must submit a duly-filled application form along with a request proposal (DD) drawn up in favour of NICC and payable at Bangalore at the address below:

Note: The application fee is ₹3000. If someone is applying for multiple courses, the fee has to be paid for each.

  • Stage 2: Fill out the NICC Reference Letter

Applicants must download the NICC reference letter from the official website of the college after completing the application form. This letter must be filled out by the HOD or principal of the school to which the nominee belongs. Once the form has been filled out, candidates must apply it along with the NICC entrance exam application form.

Note: This applies only to candidates applying for UG programs at the NICC.

  • Step 3: Fill out the NICC Letter of Intent

First, candidates need to schedule the NICC Letter of Intent (LOI). This is a mandatory form to be filled out by of applicant, irrespective of the course he/she has applied for. The LOI may be drawn up by including the following information:

Reason to join the program

  • Justification to join the NICC
  • A candidate’s career wishes to enter after completing the NICC course.
  • If an applicant wants to study more, which course he/she would take and which college he/she would attend.
  • The reason for following a creative stream
  • A candidate’s strengths are important to his / her program of preference
  • Any award earned by a nominee in conjunction with the course he/she applies for.

It must be noted that the LOI must be entered in the candidate’s own handwriting and signed by the parent/guardian.

Once the LOI has been completed, candidates must request an application form along with the NICC 2017 entrance exam.

Step 4: Get the NICC Entrance Exam Admit Card

After successful submission of the NICC application form along with the LOI and reference letter (if applicable), the NICC Admission 2020 Admission Card will be emailed to their registered email IDs. The admission card will include information such as – the name of the applicant as well as the date, time, and exact location of the NICC entrance examination center.

Step 5: Presence for the NICC Entry Exam

Candidates must then appear for the NICC 2020 entrance exam on the date and time stipulated. As mentioned above, the design entrance exam has three components, all of which will be administered on the same day. As indicated below, the three admission rounds of candidates must be cleared:

  • The measure of NICC Aptitude
  • Round of interviews
  • Round of Portfolio Assessment

Step 6: Review the NICC Entrance Exam Results

The results of the NICC Entry Exam will be announced on the same day after all three rounds of the test have been completed. After two or three days, all nominees will be emailed the Admission Offer Letter and the deadline to secure their seat at the NICC. To gain admission to the NICC, nominees must send the following documents to the NICC Campus, Bangalore:

  • Letter of Acceptance
  • Papers on education
  • Draft application of NICC admission fees (favoring NICC and payable in Bangalore)

NICC Entrance Exam 2024 Exam Pattern

The NICC entrance exam pattern is such that the test is divided into three sections as explained below.

Aptitude

This is an objective type written entrance test that candidates need to complete within three hours. The test is designed to test the creative side of the candidates.

The aptitude test is a 3 hours test with 100 marks in total.

It can be noted that the aptitude test will be accompanied by an additional written test as per the NICC entrance exam 2020 pattern. The questions asked in the supplementary test will be specific to the course (UG or PG) the candidate has applied for.

Round of interviews

Appearing for the NICC aptitude test, candidates must appear for the interview round on the same day. The emphasis in the interview round is typically on evaluating the academic objectives of the candidates.

Evaluation round of portfolio

  • For UG candidates: the portfolio of UG candidates should be no longer than two years old and should consist of their recent artistic work.
  • For PG candidates: the portfolio of PG candidates should consist of work related to the course they have applied for.

For UG candidates: the portfolio of candidates applying for UG courses should consist of works such as drawings, paintings, sketches (digital or handmade), collages, sculptures, design concepts, photographs, animations, handmade objects, design models, computer artwork, web presentations, videos, scripts, articles, poems, and so on.

For PG candidates: the portfolio of candidates applying for PG courses should consist mainly of work relevant to the integrated design program that they have applied for. However, candidates can also include some other creative work just as candidates applying for UG courses.
