“IIM AHMEDABAD FEES HIKE AGAIN” WHY?

 PGP FEES – IIM Ahmedabad has announced a rise in the fee of its flagship post-graduate program (PGP) in management for the 2019-21 batch.  The PGP program from the upcoming academic year 2019-2020 will now cost Rs 23 lakh. IIM Ahmedabad will apply the revised fees for batch 2024-25 of the PGP.

For the fourth consecutive year, IIM Ahmedabad has increased its PGP fees. In 2016, the fees of the 2-year post-graduate program were increased from Rs 18.50 lakh to Rs 19.50 lakh. In 2017, the fees were hiked to Rs 21 lakh, and in 2018; it was hiked to Rs 22 lakh. IIM Ahmedabad’s Flagship program PGP now will cost 23 lakh. Director of IIM Ahmedabad, Errol D’Souza, has stated this fee hike because of the implementation of the sixth pay commission and inflation. They also stated that the fee is an inclusion of all other costs excluding food costs.

During the 54th convocation of IIM Ahmedabad for the year 2019, something announced this 4.5% increase in PGP fees. In this convocation 2019, IIM Ahmedabad has granted an MBA degree to the passing out batch of PGP 2017-19; PGP-FABM-2017-19 and PGPX 2018-19. IIM Ahmedabad awarded postgraduate diplomas in management not degrees till last year. IIM Ahmedabad awarded an MBA degree instead of a diploma for the first time. This decision was taken as per the IIM Act 2017. The number of students who were given degrees was 593.

From, now onwards all the succeeding batches will be awarded an MBA degree. This major action will make the students pursue higher studies globally without any equivalence certificate. 

Impact of hike in PGP fees by IIM Ahmedabad

The hike in fee for PGP at IIM Ahmedabad does not have any impact on the MBA aspirants. As the packages and placements in 2019 have reached a very high scale, the ROI (Return of Investment) is also high. Because of this, MBA aspirants are ready to pay this much fees in an illustrious MBA college.
